My name is Pramod Kumar Shamjhu and I am the new president of the Union of Customs and Excise Officers. I live at Triolet and I am currently posted at the Assessment Section, Level 3, New Custom House. I joined the Custom Department in May 2005.
I thank all executive members of the Union of Customs and Excise Officers for trusting me and giving me the opportunity to serve. I am sure that, in a near future, our union will become a major force that will command respect. To reach this target, I will be needing the unflinching support of all customs officers irrespective of ranks.
Our prime objective is to cause all customs officer to become members of this union. Very soon all customs officers will receive letters from the union to explain how the subscription process. As soon as we have a majority of members, our employer will have no choice but to accept our union as a lawful body and open negotiations with us.
As it can be noted, we have opened many channels of communications to improve feedback. Feel free to comment and send in your valued suggestions via Facebook or this blog. Thank you.
We are united.

CONGRATS FOR THIS NEW UNION MR PRAMOD. IN FACT THIS UNION HAS BEEN EXISTED FOR LONG. WE ALL KNOW. WE MEMBERS WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT ARE YOUR PRIORITIES MR SAMJHU? JUST GIVING A WELCOMING MESSAGE IS NOT ENOUGH. YOU NEED TO LIST YOUR PRIORIRIES AND TARGETS. LET US MEMBERS KNOW ABOUT THE PROBLEMS THAT YOU WILL ATTACK FIRST. MRASA IS ALREADY FIGHTING SO MANY CASES FOR THE CUSTOMS OFFICERS. WE ARE PATIENT ENOUGH TO WAIT FOR THE OUTCOMES AS WE ALL KNOW HOW LONG IT TAKES BEFORE OBTAINING A FINAL COURT RULING. I WANT TO KNOW IF EVER YOU WILL FIGHT THE SAME CASES IN PARALLLEL WITH THE MRASA. HOW MUCH TO CONTRIBUTE? WHAT MAKES YOU MORE COMPETENT THAN THE MRASA. WE MEMBERS WANT TO KNOW.

VOICE OF CUSTOMS OFFICERS
hi all
ReplyDeletebon courage TEAM UCEO
Hi All,
ReplyDeleteI just want to point out that UCEO are not here to compete with MRASA but instead we will support them as long as Customs matters are concerned. So my dear colleagues our first priority is to unite all Customs Officers and then all together we shall face & fight problems encountered.
Thx & Best Redards
Ramtally M.A
There is a climate of deep frustration prevailing among the old generation of customs officers who reckon above 25 years of service and who do not see the tiniest glimpse of prospect in their career. When they joined the Customs Dept they had a legitimate aspiration to climb the ladder of promotion. But with the setting up of the MRA all the rules of the game were changed and their long experience in the dept is simply ignored.Something needs to be done in this area to correct this state of affairs. The management should be made aware of this insane situation of growing injustice. What does the UCEO propose to do in a concrete manner to bring a ray of hope to those officers who have loyally served the dept for 20,25,30 years....???
ReplyDeleteACTIONS, STRONG ACTIONS SO THAT OUR VOICE REACHES EHRAM COURT WHERE CUSTOMS OFFICERS ARE TAKEN FOR GRANTED.IT'S TIME TO SHAKE THE BARACOON.MRASA & UCEO JOIN HANDS, FORGET THE PAST AND MOVE AHEAD WITH RENEWED VIGOUR TO ACHIEVE OUR COMMON GOAL.THE UNIFORM SAGA IS A SHAME FOR A SUPPOSEDLY WORLD CLASS INSTITUTION LIKE THE MRA.THE PENSION ISSUE IS A CRUCIAL ITEM IN THE AGENDA.ENAN BOUCOU PROBLEM DANS LA DOUANE (PROMOTION, LA PAYE, OVERSEAS COURSE, TRAVELLING ,ETC ) KI BIEN BIZIN REGLEZ A NOU SATISFACTION.L'UNION FAIT LA FORCE.RESULTAT FINAL KI COMPTEZ.
ReplyDeleteWith the creation of the MRA, we have been great losers:(1)Our leaves (Accumulated leaves) have been drastically reduced (2)We work for longer hours (3)No passage benefit (4)No Duty Free facilities unlike civil servants.(5)No overtime for work on Sundays (6)Promotion no longer based on seniority (7)No allowance paid for non-issue of uniforms for several years (8)Abolition of REWARD payment.(9)sergents inne degradez, inne vine caporal -3 bars vinne 2 bars. Ki BENEDYN inne negotier?Nou bannes acquired rights finne wiped out.Inne lere pou revoir tou sa la.c'est maintenant ou jamais....
ReplyDeleteBenidin pe re vini ek so nouvo lekipe ...tou bane marionettes la dans.Remote dans benidin so la main..lol
ReplyDeleteWell said Kes-Tom and we were given to understand that MRA as our employer, our condition of service will not be LESS FAVOURABLE than when we formed part of the civil service.Which is which?Agreed that there has been an increase in our salary but it isn't much when we deduct the taxable travelling expenses which has been included therein pou gonfler la paye la. Don't we have a strong case which can be fought in the Industrial Court? What do you think Mr the Vice-President?
ReplyDeleteWHILE AM FULLY AGREEABLE TO A UNION OF CUSTOMS & EXCISE OFFICERS .
ReplyDeleteStory seems to repeat itself , while in the past we have been deceived by some persons who are
now part of the so-called " NEW TEAM ". THE SAME OLD GHOST ARE STILL HERE TO HAUNT THE FUTURE
of this Union. THE HISTORY OF THIS UNION IS PAGUED WITH ABUSES, MISCONDUCT AND "BETRAYAL". This might be 1 of the reasons why when union members came around to collect overdue amount for the union many
of us were quite hesitant to contribute . EACH ONE OF THE "NEW" UNION MEMBERS HAS/HER OWN REPUTATION WITHIN THE DEPT, and now they are chasing us to join in as members .Most of us have a very bad experience of dealing with the CUSTOMS & EXCISE UNION .
Because as long as these persons will still be part of the Union there will still be doubts in the mind of
members / propective members about the true objectives/( "agenda of the executive members" )of the Union and , bear in mind that
all this so-called Union is just another forum to further personal agendas (very much like in politics) and popularity amongst some of us.
Most of us are already part of the MRASA, which is doing its job with much difficulty
but nevertheless have come up with some +signs .While I have several times heard some of us saying that the new team
at the MRASA is too weak and inexperience to improve our working conditions , they are a group of people who are doing their best. However like some1 said this is not the forum to discuss POLITICS this union is meant to be A FORUM 4 OUR COMMON grievances. From what I read about the union short term objectives these are already being handled by the MRASA AND under discussion with THE MRA MANAGEMENT but it takes time to see the end result . So do this union has new concrete objectives?
FROM WHAT I'VE READ THERE 'S SOME COMMENTS OF ENCOURAGEMENT/ FRUSTRATION BUT FEW OF US HAVE PROPOSED NEW IDEAS ON HOW WE COULD IMPROVE THE WAY THE UNION FUNCTION AND WHAT IT SHOULD DO
LIKE THE INTRODUCTION NEW FLEXI TIME SYSTEM THAT IS TO CUSTOMS WORK ENVIRONMENT , SALARY REVIEW, TRAVELLING COST ... A MONTHLY /QUARTERLY ABOUT THE ACTIVITIES OF THE UNION WELL THESE
SORT OF THINGS IN WHICH MOST OF US ARE EXPECTING THAT THIS UNION WILL NEGOTIATE ON OUR BEHALF
and what assurance will be put in place so that this union does not become a forum to further political / personal agendas for some? There 's a serious risk that this union ends up like its predecessors.
